How To Make Greentea Ice Cream In Just A Few Minutes

Ice cream is still one of my all time favorite desserts in the summer time. But sometimes you're in the mood for something other than the usual chocolate or plain vanilla ice flavors. When your taste buds are in the mood for something a little more adult, make up some of this chai tea ice cream recipe and one of my favorite - green tea ice cream. Using green tea powder makes this quick and easy and it's actually somewhat healthy (if you ignore the fact that it's made with heavy cream and sugar). Overall, this is a delicious treat and a fun dessert to make for a dinner party.

Green Tea Ice Cream Recipe

* 1 Tbsp matcha green tea powder
* 3 Tbsp hot water
* 3/4 cup milk
* 2 egg yolks
* 5 Tbsp sugar
* 3/4 cup heavy cream

Start by mixing the tea powder and hot water in a small cup. Take your favorite pot and pour the egg yolks into it. Stir them a bit with a wooden spoon, then add the sugar and mix again until well combined. Add the milk a little at a time and continue to whisk until everything is well dissolved.

Start heating the mixture over low heat, stirring the entire time until it starts to thicken. Remove the pot from the heat and allow it to cool slightly. Add the green tea mix and still until well combined. Put the mixture into the fridge and allow it to chill well.

Whip the heavy cream with a hand mixer until you have whipped cream. Fold the whipped cream into the green tea mixture. Transfer everything into your ice cream maker and follow your instructions for making ice cream.

Last but not least, transfer the finished ice cream into a container with a tight lid and freeze it for about an hour before you serve it. This allows the ice cream to "ripen" and makes it easier to scoop it out when you're ready to eat it.

From here, feel free to experiment by adding additional flavors to your basic ice cream recipe. I particularly enjoy lemon green tea ice cream which you can make by adding a little lemon zest to the green tea mix.

Last but not least, make some strong green tea, allow it to cool and use the tea, a bit of milk and some of this ice cream to make a delicious green tea ice cream shake.

I'm sure your dinner guests will be as impressed as mine were with your new Asian inspired ice cream creations. They are the perfect ending to a Japanese style dinner, but tasty enough to make just for yourself as a treat any day of the week.

And now I'd like to invite you to take a look at these homemade icecream recipes. They are some of my all-time favorite recipes and I'm sure your family will enjoy them as much as mine has. You'll find instructions on how to make ice cream with or without an ice cream maker along with 100 recipes for ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, sherbet and even Popsicles. They are sure to become quick family favorites during the warm summer months.
